what’s in love’em treats and why

Love’em is proud to use only the very best, human quality Australian grown liver and produce from local farmers we know and trust. Learn more about the ingredients we use and why.

Jam packed full of nutrients and a great source of quality protein, copper, iron, niacin, phosphorus and zinc. Liver provides many B vitamins and essential amino acids your dogs and cats need in their diet to keep them healthy. Don’t forget to refer to the love’em ‘how much liver’ guide to be sure not to feed too much.
Packed full of protein and highly digestible, what’s not to love about chicken? So why chicken meal in love’em products rather than whole meat? Well, whole meat contains a lot of water, while meat meal is whole meat that has been cooked and dried which means more meat protein in the treats for your dogs. In fact, chicken meal in a finished food provides roughly 4 to 5 times the nutrients as the same weight of chicken meat because of the differences in moisture.
A form of fat, our 100% natural beef tallow is highly palatable to both cats and dogs. At Love’em we use tallow to enhance texture and flavour of our products, plus it has the added benefit of helping in the production of energy which equals bouncy dogs!
Featuring in the love’em chicken and cranberry cookie range, cranberries are a natural and delicious source of vitamins including vitamin C to help keep your dog’s immune system healthy and strong.
Packed full of nutrients and a rich source of minerals, Linseed is rich in Omega 3 and 6 which is perfect for promoting healthy skin and a shiny coat. You’ll find linseed in the love’em soy and linseed cookie range.
Just as with humans, parsley is great as a breath freshener for our dogs which, let’s face it, is often very needed. It’s also full of antioxidants and vitamins and is great for soothing a sore tummy too. Parsley adds to the great taste and flavour of the love’em chicken and cranberry and also soy & wholemeal cookies.
Packed with Vitamins A, K and C, carrots pack a powerful antioxidant punch and can help promote healthy vision, heart and blood sugar levels. We’ve included carrots in our soy & wholemeal cookies as well as our joint care range.
Full of taste and flavour, rosemary is also packed full of benefits for our dogs including being high in fibre, rich in vitamins and a natural anti-oxidant which is why we’ve included it in one of the love’em cookie ranges – linseed and rosemary.
As well as adding heaps of flavour to food, capsicum has the added benefits of soothing the digestive system and also helping counteract bad breath. You’ll find red capsicum in our soy & wholemeal cookies.
Like parsley, mint is a great breath freshener for our dogs as well as being helpful in soothing a sore tummy. As an added bonus, it can also help with travel sickness. You’ll find mint in our lamb and mint cookies.
Quinoa is one of the most protein-rich foods we can eat with twice as much fibre as other grains. It is also rich in iron, manganese, lysine, magnesium and vitamin B2.
Corn is a wonderful source of protein - essential for muscle and tissue growth - as well as carbohydrates for energy. Corn also contains essential fatty acids to promote healthy skin and a shiny coat and it’s for this reason you’ll find corn in our linseed & rosemary cookies.
Love’em uses DHA to enrich our love’em products. DHA stands for Docosahexaenoic Acid which is an Omega 3 fatty acid. DHA supports brain and eye development in puppies, provides immune system support and promotes a healthy skin and coat in dogs. As an added bonus, DHA supports trainability which can only be a good thing!
Love’em uses Glucosamine in our liver cookies with joint care complex as it’s perfect for keeping our pets’ joints hydrated and lubricated and also helps maintain good joint cartilage.
This is a wonderful ingredient that helps to reduce cartilage damage and swelling as well as helping with the production of new cartilage around the joints. That’s why love’em includes it in our liver cookies with joint care complex.
Manganese is a mineral that is needed for the formation of bone and joint cartilage which is why you’ll find it in love’em liver cookies with joint care complex. Every little bit helps.
Put simply, ascorbic acid is a source of vitamin C, which is an antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals. You’ll find ascorbic acid in love’em liver cookies with joint care complex and also Purrfect cat treats.
Salt (Sodium Chloride) is a combination of two minerals sodium and chloride both of which play a part in a healthy diet. Sodium is essential for healthy functioning of cells and maintains the acid base balance in the body with potassium. Chloride has a role in maintaining the fluid balance in the body and helps maintain acid base balance. Very small amounts of salt are found in some of the love’em products.
OK, bear with us while we explain … free radicals are highly reactive, oxygen-containing molecules that can cause damage to your cat's nervous and immune. Antioxidants are nutrients within food that help protect the body from this kind of damage and that’s why you’ll find antioxidants in love’em Purrfect liver treats for cats.
Made from natural corn starch and with no additives, Maltodextrin is easily digested and absorbed and is a great source of energy for active dogs. Love’em uses maltodextrin in our liver chews.
Of all the minerals growing puppies need, calcium is the one that’s needed in the greatest quantities as it’s essential for developing strong bones and a healthy heart. That’s why our love’em Puppy Rewards are rich in calcium.
Wheat flour is the finely ground meal you get from milling wheat and provides an excellent source of easily digestible carbohydrates for energy. We’re proud that the wheat flour we use in our love’em cookies is 100% Australian.
The word "whole" refers to the fact that all of the grain is used and nothing is lost in the process of making the flour. It is therefore, a full flavoured flour containing vitamins, minerals and protein and is more nutritious than refined white flour.
Soy is an excellent source of protein and omega 3 fatty acids, as well as B vitamins, vitamin K, and the minerals iron, manganese, and zinc. Found in love’em soy and wholemeal cookies and also love’em linseed & rosemary cookies, soy helps promote a healthy digestive system as well as healthy skin and a shiny coat.
A natural source of energy from the starch of grains and vegetables that helps to give our love’em puppy rewards and Purrfect treats a crunchy bite.
Rawhide is great for healthy gums and teeth. You might be wondering why we source our hide from Thailand rather than here in Australia. As it is a by-product of the tanning industry you can’t actually find Australian produced rawhide. Our priority was therefore, to source a quality product from a reputable and trusted provider overseas – a provider that uses sustainable methods without the use of unnecessary and potentially harmful chemicals in the production process. Our chosen provider, based in Thailand, is known, trusted and approved by Dr Marie Rowe.
