1. Petrek

Petrek 3G pet tracker

What is it?

A GPS tracking device for your pet! Attach it to your dog or cat’s collar and download the app. You’ll be able to see your pet’s movements and can opt to receive notifications if your yard’s perimeter is breeched.

Pros

You’ll never have to drive around looking for your dog again, and as soon as they escape you’ll know about it. It’s waterproof too!

Cons

Runs on 3G so you will need to top up the internal sim card with credit occasionally. Expensive to buy at $279.

2. Big Dog Pet Foods

big dog raw barf food

what is it?

Portion sized RAW food for dogs (and cats) full of all the good, 100% natural stuff that mimics their intended diet in the wild.

Pros

Lots of varieties so your dog won’t get sick of the same species of meat, and good options for dogs with allergies, too. It’s so sooo nutritious and includes bone and cartilage too for healthy teeth and digestive systems. Handy portion sizes. Dogs and cats just love them!

Cons

Only available in specialty stores so expect to make an extra trip to the pet store to complete your groceries every week. Can become a bit expensive in a multiple-dog household.

3. Kong Wild Knots Bear

Kong Wild Knot Bear best dog toy

What is it?

A hardy, durable teddy bear able to withstand more than a few games of tug-o-war. It has a rope and knots “skeleton” throughout the inside for added strength and chewability. That’s a word.

Pros

Strong, cute, affordable, three different colours to collect

Cons

If you have a relentless chewer who stops at nothing, you’ll have fun picking up snowww. While Wild Knots Bear is durable, he’s not immortal.

4. Seresto Flea & Tick Collar

What is is?

Perhaps the best and longest lasting flea preventative on the market, we always use Seresto for Lily and Tinkerbell.

Pros

Keeps fleas and ticks away for up to 8 months! Attach the collar, and forget. No more messy spot treatments every four weeks.

Cons

Expensive at around $70, but still great value in the long run when you consider that it lasts 8 times as long as a spot treatment.

5. Green feeder

green slow interactive dog feeder northmate

What is it?

GREEN is an interactive slow feeder simulating green grass which encourages dogs to forage for their food and take their time eating.

Pros

Dogs love it and it’s fun to watch. It’s a great challenge and adventure every meal time and it’s useful for dogs who wolf their food down too quickly. Dishwasher safe, hardy and weather proof. It doesn’t cost too much either.

Cons

Slides around the floor when dogs paw at it. The large size is very large and can be a bit of an eyesore.

6. iFetch

ifetch ball thrower best dog toys

what is it?

An impressive range of automatic ball throwers for dogs who love playing fetch.

Pros

The pinnacle of innovation, your dog can play fetch while they’re home alone, when you’re relaxing outside, or if you have mobility limits. There are different types and sizes for all dogs. One year warranty.

Cons

With prices from $90-$400 you might find yourself just throwing a ball. The mechanical noise can scare some dogs, it’s not the best toy for dogs sensitive to funny sounds. There are cheaper alternatives out there if you don’t mind shopping around and reading reviews. Takes a bit of training to show your dog how to use it.
